Ground Beef Cooking Temperature

Before we talk about how to cook with ground beef, let’s look at what the perfect ground beef cooking temperature is.

In order to ensure that your ground beef is safe to eat, you have to make sure it is cooked at the proper temperature.

When it comes to all ground meats, they must be cooked to 160°F. You can use a thermometer to check the internal temperature to make sure it is thoroughly cooked.

Cooking Frozen Ground Beef

Did you know that you can cook frozen ground beef? Gone are the days of waiting for your meat to thaw!

Freezing your ground beef is an amazing way to stock up on this delicious meat and have some on hand to make quick and delicious meals.

Cooking frozen ground beef is easy to do and doesn’t take much longer than if you were to cook it fresh.

You can cook frozen ground beef on your stovetop or in an Instant Pot.

Cooking Ground Meat From Frozen - Stovetop

On your stovetop, place the frozen ground beef in a saucepan, adding ¼ cup of water. Cover the pan and let the meat cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes.

Flip the block and scrape off the cooked meat. Continue cooking on each side for 2-3 minutes, continuing to flip and scrape.

If necessary, add a little bit more water.

Eventually, you will be able to break the meat block into smaller pieces and allow the entire thing to cook thoroughly.

Cooking Ground Meat From Frozen - Instant Pot

When it comes to cooking ground beef in an Instant Pot, this is a very simple way to cook ground meat from frozen.

Place the trivet inside your Instant Pot and add water. Place the frozen ground beef on the trivet.

Close the lid and set the steam release knob to the “Sealing” position. Press the “Pressure Cook” button to select the cooking time (one pound of frozen ground beef should take about 20 minutes).

Make sure not to overcook your ground beef in the Instant Pot. Even if it’s not completely cooked after 20 minutes, it will still be thawed enough for you to finish cooking it in a pan.

When the cook cycle is complete, turn off the Instant Pot and let it sit for 5 minutes before opening. Turn the knob to vent the pot and open the lid once the remaining steam and pressure have been released.
